Sunday Snip Its

Well, I'm to the half way point of National Blog Posting Month. It really is quite a challenge to find blog-worthy subjects to post about each day! So, how does everyone think I'm doing?

Today, Kyle got a haircut so there is a picture below with his new "do". We really prefer his hair short...he looks too cute! Today, we also bought Christmas gifts for Kyle's preschool teacher, two assistants, and his three therapists. Soon, I will take some pictures of the gifts and post for all to see. Since, we have such very small families our Christmas list isn't very long, which takes some of the stress out of the holidays.

Has anyone started their holiday shopping? Only 39 days until Christmas!!

Third Time's A Charm

How difficult can it be to get a toddler's haircut? You would think it wouldn't be all that hard. We planned to arrive at Snip It's Sunday morning when they opened at 11am so we wouldn't have a long wait. Better yet, we have a prepaid book so the haircut would already be paid for. We pull up and see a sign taped to the door, so automatically knew this wasn't a very good sign. The sign says they are closed until the beginning of September for remodeling. Strike One! Great, Kyle needs his haircut before Friday. We rememered another child friendly salon called Cool Cuts For Kids not too far down the road. We arrive there and they closed in February. Strike Two!! Well, by this time I'm determined to have success so we tried a new child friendly place not far from our house called Cookie Cutter's. Believe it or not, they were open and better yet, no wait!! This was a good thing, since it was past lunch and naptime for Kyle. Third times a charm!! We knew Kyle would love the place when we walked in because he had his choice of a fire truck, Cardinals car, and airplane to sit in. Of course, Kyle wanted the fire truck. He did great for the most part and loved ringing the bell on the truck. They have so much to occupy the children...slide, television, bubbles, cool cars/trucks to sit in, balloons and lolly pops. We will definitely bring Kyle back once our prepaid cuts are all used.

I thought it would be funny to get a picture of Kyle in the pink car. Daddy wasn't too happy and is even more upset this picture made it on the blog.

Ready for Summer

Kyle is now officially prepared for the summer heat. His hair seems to grow so fast that I decided to go a little bit shorter than usual. I figured it couldn't hurt, since it's hair, and it will grow if I don't like it. I think it turned out so cute. In my eyes, Kyle would still look precious with any type of haircut, but I am just a little biased.

Also, I figure I need to take advantage of getting his haircut the way I like it. Soon, Kyle will begin having his own opinion on the matter. As well as many other things I still have control over...clothes, shoes, etc. I can only hope he has the same taste as his Mommy!

Toddler Intuition

This is a question I've wondered about since having a child. I know it isn't unique to Kyle, but it just amazes me.
Kyle generally wakes up in the morning between 7:00a.m....7:30a.m. at the latest. Although, Wednesday and Friday mornings when he needs to wake up on time to eat breakfast and get dressed for preschool he decides he could sleep till noon. I really hate to wake him up, but in a situation like this I have no choice. He isn't upset when I wake him, but I've always gone by the phrase..."Never wake a sleeping baby."...or toddler in this case.
This happens during naptime as well. If we have plans or somewhere to go after naptime he would take a marathon nap. If we have nowhere to be after nap, he will take a shorter nap.
How does he know? He must have a sixth sense...who knows what the explanation is. Babies and toddlers can be such a mystery...it would be nice if they came with an instruction manual.
That's part of his job...to keep Mommy on her toes!!
Since he did wake up early enough this afternoon and we had a few hours before Daddy was to arrive home, we headed to get Kyle's haircut. He always does look so adorable and grown up when his hair is freshly cut. Of course, I have to add a picture of his new "do".

In other news...About a year and half ago I finally convinced John we needed a cleaning service. I have been with the same company the entire time, but wasn't ever 100% satisfied with their cleaning. It was always just OK, but not anything exceptional. A couple of weeks ago, the company opened a franchise closer to our neighborhood and they are FANTASTIC!! This is the second cleaning from this team and our house is ssssooo clean I don't want to walk in it or even live in it for that matter. Such a great feeling!! I actually feel like we are getting our money's worth!!

I assume you have had enough rambling from me for one day so I will sign off for now. I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow !! Bye for now.

Snip, Snip, Snip

Yesterday, while Daddy was "hanging with the guys" (see Go Furies) Mommy took Kyle to get his haircut. We take him to Snip Its, a fun, cute place just for kids to have their haircut...they have tv's at each station so this helps to hold their attention. Several times, we have seen children that are screaming and crying, but believe it or not Kyle is very well behaved. It definitely makes the process so much faster and less painful for all involved.
Kyle always looks so grown up after he has his haircut. Below is an "after" picture taken in the car on the way home. Isn't he just too cute?? Well, I sure think so, but I'm just a little biased...that's what Mommy's are for!
